SEE THE FREQUENT QUESTIONS ABOUT CITIZENSHIP

How to obtain Polish citizenship?

To obtain Polish citizenship, you must first meet the conditions for granting citizenship or recognition as a citizen provided for by regulations. The next step will be to prepare the required documents and the application, and then submit it to the voivode competent for the place of voivodeship residence or to the consulate.

How many years do you have to live in Poland to obtain citizenship?

Much depends on the specific case. Obtaining citizenship involves not only the need to stay in Poland for a specified period of time, but also the obligation to meet additional conditions. For example, a foreigner with a permanent residence permit obtained in connection with Polish origin or the Pole’s Card may obtain citizenship after legal and uninterrupted stay in Poland for only 1 year. In turn, a person with refugee status may obtain citizenship after 2 years of such uninterrupted stay.
